"A Major Talent in Any Language....."

Lowri Evans Biography

Lowri Evans returned to Wales after spending 6 years living, studying and
performing with several bands in Newcastle upon Tyne. During this time she
recorded 2 albums with the band Stella, played frequent gigs including an
appearance at the Leeds Festival. In mid 2003 Lowri went travelling for 3 months
in South America with her sister, 5 months later they returned to their native
Pembrokeshire, West Wales.

On returning Lowri once again picked up her guitar and started writing songs
again, her influences range from Nina Simone to Sheryl Crow, from Eric Clapton
to Eric Bibb. Deciding to pursue a solo career she started playing in public
with just her guitar and piano, making appearances across Wales. Her live
performance on the Sunday night music show on Radio Pembrokeshire in late 2004
won her “Live Session of the Year”. Her solo EP “Any Other Day” a collection of
original songs she recorded with former band mate and multi instrumentalist
Howard Hedger in Newcastle was given record of the week on Radio Ceredigion’s’
breakfast show in early 2005. Becoming a familiar name on the local music scene
in January 2005 Lowri was asked and was pleased to donate her track “Sorry
Smokey” to a charity CD which was sold to raise money for Tsunami Relief.

It was during the recording and promotion of this charity CD that she met
guitarist and studio engineer/producer Lee Mason. In March 2005 Lee produced
another independent EP “Little People” for promotion and for selling at gigs.
Since then they have been playing, writing and recording together regularly.
They have made appearances at Broadstairs Folk Week in Kent, The Small Nations
Festival in Mid Wales, The Wychwood Festival Cheltenham, Sesiwn Fawr Dolgellau
to name a few, they have also made various live appearances on radio and
television.

Summer 2006 saw the release of Lowri’s first Welsh language CD “Clyw Sibrydion”
on Welsh record label RASP part of the Fflach recording company. Co-produced by
Lee Mason and Wyn Jones and featuring a host of talented musicians, all album
tracks are written by Lowri with 2 tracks co-written with Lee Mason.
